Let's Get Started!

Hello Fellow Video Producers!

I started this blog for the purpose of helping others get their videos seen!  I have found several ways that help get video viewership to a point that they actually make some money!  Of course this blog is monetized and I hope to get a bit of a return from viewership here as well.  Remember everything is business!  The internet is an incredibly powerful tool, use it!

Let's face it, it's a struggle for most of us to get videos viewed, but there are a few things you can do to help the process!

Your video does not have to be an epoch of cinematic wonderfulness but it does need to generate a certain amount of interest. This interest can be controversial or just so cool that people send the link to their friends.

Your videos do not have to be very long.  My first successful Youtube video was only 13 seconds and has generated over 11,000,000 views which has generated about $17,000.  Not bad for a 13 second video shot in 1993!

Getting Started

First you need an Adsense account if you do not already have one.
Sign up here:
https://www.google.com/adsense/signup?gsessionid=ufByDLQoN-_Ueg_0TEvkrw

Second if you do not have one, sign up for a Youtube account and start uploading!
http://www.youtube.com/

Be sure to be completely honest with your sign up information!  Google has a very low tolerance for deception!

And third, be sure to adhere to all the rules of Adsense and Youtube or you will lose your account and probably never get another one. Google is very strict about not clicking on your own ads etc.  Understand this first and foremost!

So, what's so special about a 13 second video that got it viewed over 11,000,000 times?  Controversy! That and it's kind of a cool video.

Create Renewed Interest In Old Videos

As this video tapered off in viewership I repackaged it and reposted it and now the new one has generated over 3,000,000 views and growing!

Comments on videos are very telling. Some say fake while others explain why it is not fake.  Is the video fake? It does not matter as long as it will generate a bit of buzz.  So reality and length does not really determine success of a video.  You can also purchase ads for your videos.  However this is a topic for another day.

You can see the repackaged video here:

Tip: If you have a video that is getting some views, repackage it and spin it another way.  Milk it for all you can!  Use slow motion, or a different angle.  You can add footage that was not in the original or use special effects to alter it.  Remember that people like to see stuff explode or get crashed into and slow motion can really add to the drama!

I will be adding tips to make your videos generate money in the coming weeks so check back!

Please feel free to use this site to share your videos!  Avoid profanity in your videos and keep them PG-13 or under.  Lots of kids view videos on-line and it's best to not corrupt the internet any more than it already is!

Again feel free to link your videos here. Comments are welcome but keep it honest!

Good luck and I hope to hear from you!

I have been a television producer for over thirty years in broadcast, corporate and government production. If you would like a critique of your videos I would be happy to do so.

Feedback is key and the more you get the better you will understand what sells and what does not.  Remember to have a thick skin and don't be offended by negative comments from some viewers.  About 10% of all viewers give you a thumbs down just because they are sad sorry little people, not because they truly hate your videos!  :)
